How to stop stressing over the phrase "you need a strong pitch"
Because here are 35 examples of approved pitches
Hi hi!
As a reminder, there’s no writing opportunities newsletter today since I was on vacation last week. However, I want to talk about something else that might interest you!
A few years ago, I was sitting on my couch, full of annoyance/dread/stress/imposter syndrome.
I was Googling how the heck to make money as a freelance writer, and I came across the same advice over and over again: “You need a strong pitch.”
Okay, random writing websites, I get it! But what does that mean??
After a mix of reaching out to other writers, crying, and hitting “Send” on pitches before I could stop myself, I got an idea of what editors wanted to see. I wrote for several publications and worked my way into being able to have this dream job full-time. (I’m still kind of shocked, but mostly grateful.)
Despite my gratitude, I have to admit that seeing some examples of ~strong pitches~ at the start might have been a much easier, quicker, and less tear-filled route.
And if I couldn’t have that, I want you to be able to.
That’s why I created a master document of some of my approved pitches (35, to be exact), plus a fill-in-the-blank pitch format for you.
Publications included, in alphabetical order: Apartment Therapy, Autostraddle, BuzzFeed, Diem, HelloGiggles, HuffPost, and Yoga Journal.
These pubs pay a range from $80 to $400 an article, typically, though the document is much cheaper than that—only $25!
You know you want it! ;) LOL JK, but if you do…Approved Pitches Master Document, Volume 1 - Ashley Broadwater's Ko-fi Shop :)
Until next time!
