Hi & happy Monday!
Has freelancing been slow for you recently?
If so, you’re not alone. (Well, you never are, but I want to talk about it today.)
A friend/colleague and I were talking about how it’s been hard to get responses (let alone assignments/acceptances) lately, or at least to the extent we used to. At some places more than others, of course.
That could be for many reasons that aren’t personal. Editors change jobs. They get busy. They get laid off. Budgets are cut. Other writers have become regular contributors. Editors change what they’re looking for. These are only a few, I promise you!
Also, I’ve been freelancing for 3 and a half years now, and January is always pretty slow. That might not be the case for everybody, but it is for me!
And, these moments aren’t forever. Think about all the times you thought you’d be upset, in a rough situation, without work, etc forever—and then you weren’t.
This is just another one of those times, unfortunately. Hope is on the horizon, as ~hopefully~ evidenced by the 33 recent opportunities below!
Now, onto the writing jobs and pitch calls for paid subscribers!
(Free subscribers: Want to see that content or make sure it’s worth it before purchasing? Here’s an old example of what you’ll get each week. On average, I include about 20-30 paid opps including a variety of beats, years of experience, types of writing, etc.)
