Hi & happy 100th newsletter!
To continue last week’s goal of 1) uplifting and amplifying the voices of writers in marginalized communities and 2) educating myself and other privileged allies, I wanted to share this article I appreciate:
“On Self-Rejection and Writing From a Marginalized Perspective” by Malinda Lo :) I encourage you to read it, but in case you don’t have time, here are some main points:
Write the stories you need to hear and haven’t seen shared! There’s an audience for these stories.
It’s okay if you’re a minority writer who doesn’t want to write about minority characters.
Marginalized writers have to fight to be seen and heard in a world that unfairly deems their stories unimportant and unpopular.
I encourage you to keep those things in mind :)
Now, onto the writing jobs and pitch calls for paid subscribers!
(Free subscribers: Want to see that content or make sure it’s worth it before purchasing? Here’s an old example of what you’ll get each week. On average, I include about 20-30 paid opps including a variety of beats, years of experience, types of writing, etc.)
