A Bunch of Paid Writing Opportunities, Week #55
Jobs, pitch calls, + a sneak peek into my schedule
Hi and happy Monday!
I’ve had a few people ask me what a day in my career looks like / how I schedule my assignments / etc, so I wanted to give you a sneak peek! Here’s how it usually goes:
If I don’t have many assignments planned for the weeks ahead (I like to aim for ~4 a week, give or take, if I can), I plan to pitch the next day or ASAP.
Once my pitches are accepted, I’m either given deadlines, so I note them, or I share a deadline that works for me.
I try to start the article two days before it’s due (so I have time to edit, turn it in on time, etc without rushing), so when I have an open day, I schedule writing the article for that day and give my editor a due date of two days later.
I also make sure I note a date on my calendar to work on my newsletters, scheduling tweets, etc. This typically happens on Fridays!
When I’ve finished an article and have more time, or don’t have an assignment to work on, I do a mix of making resources for writers, answering emails, writing on Medium, getting ahead on future articles, emailing experts for stories coming up, etc.
Hope that helps! Everyone’s schedule will look different, and I like to switch things up when I can to find what works best for me. But this is what it looks like right now! LMK if you have questions :)
Now, onto the writing jobs and pitch calls for paid subscribers!
