I hope you all are enjoying Memorial Day and not working (I know I am—I scheduled this email Friday!).

Today I want to share some things editors love to see, in my experience, that can help you get more assignments! They may seem obvious, but not all writers do them!

• Link to the publication’s other content throughout your article where it makes sense

• Be responsive, professional, and kind in emails

• Turn in your work on time (or communicate if you can’t!)

• If you think your reader may want to know more about something or will have a question, address it ahead of time in your draft!

• Give the editor everything they asked for (Ex: extra headline options, a correctly sourced photo, etc)
